2 days of the rock and roll lifestyle…

...and it was almost the end of me…

Friday night’s gig was about the worst one we’ve done musically, but we got good audience reaction as usual from my strange Japanese mc, the two guys from the last band just stood in front of me and said “kawaii” and “kakkoi” during the entire set which was a little off putting. Had drama with a last minute toilet dash after drinking two beers and the toilet being tied up for 20 minutes by the bass player from the 3rd band - managed to dash in right before we started to play but was so flustered that I forgot to switch my amp on until a verse of Stolen Umbrella had already passed…oops…not that anyone else noticed…well except for Ka-kun who was laughing so hard that he messed up his timing…Club Statto have booked us for some event on April 16…but we’ll probably be playing another gig before that sometime, somewhere….

Ears still ringing from the night before I woke up to a massive headache, which was flu-induced, knowing that I was to face Sonicmania -an all day music festival. Armed with a stack of headache tablets supplied by GG (thanks again babe!) I slept all of the way there in the car and was still exhausted. Wandered around for a while, saw some bands but I didn’t get much into them (fell asleep standing up during one of them) but managed to get together enough energy to stay awake for the final 3 - The High-Lows, Rancid and Brian Setzer/Slim Jim Phantom. The boys I went with had all stripped down to their standard-issue white singlets (except for the Boy who kept me company/upright) which was fine when they were down the front but needed to dash back to the carpark afterwards at warp speed to keep warm. I was wearing a long leopard-print coat with 3 layers underneath and was still freezing inside…slept on the way back to pick up our car from near Ka-kuns place, slept on the way back home to Hiratsuka, and then slept most of Sunday. Was still wiped out on Monday.

Rock and flu don’t mix.
