Shaky wake up call…was a 3….I think there were 2 of em…

And yes a tsunami warning has been issued…waiting for location….

At 7:10am a 0.5m tsunami is expected to hit the Iwate, Miyage and the South-eastern part of Hokkaido coastal areas.

Do not go near the beach in these regions (not just because of the tsunami but also because it’s too bloody chilly today).

7:13am update - no sign yet, expected in Iwate at 7:20, Hokkaido at 7:30am

7:28am update - at 7:26am a 30cm tsunami hit Iwate coast, no reports of damage

Added spice....

  • Ooooh, roll up your trousers in Iwate.

It was a magnitude 6.9, big enough to be reported (incorrectly) on CNN’s front page, but was so far out in the ocean that there wasn’t much effect at all on land.
