Everytime I go into the toilet at the ACCJ these cherubs reassure me that “It’s automatic flush!”
But this doesn’t reassure me at all, you see I have a deep-rooted fear of automatic flush toilets ever since that incident at the top of the Empire State Building in New York.

The doors on the cubicles are entertaining though - they don’t swing in or out but slide back on rails into the cubicle. No worries that someone is going to barge in and smack you in the knees with the door.
Now that’s reassuring….

what happened at the top of the Empire State Building?
Welll basically - I was in a toilet at the top and I couldn’t set the automatic flush off even after about 5 minutes of frantic cubicle aerobics, there wasn’t a back-up lever anywhere, and my friend and dashed off and didn’t hear my cries for help.
Finally I flung open the door and exclaimed to a huge line of women waiting to use the toilet “I’m sorry but I can’t get this bastard to flush no matter what I do”, washed my hands and ran out…
At least you washed your hands.
