Here is Yoshi on the computer. It takes quite a lot of effort to motivate him to write an entry - but I think he’s starting to get the hang of it. As you can see in the pic though - he types with only one hand. I suspect that’s why he takes 20 minutes to write one small entry! I asked him why he doesn’t use two hands but he said that he can’t think if he uses both.

I couldn’t help but laugh at him…

Yoshi doesn’t know how to use a computer. This very much goes against the “Japanese boy” image doesn’t it? So far he’s learnt to type Japanese into an English computer and put it to sleep (he needs to know this for when I fall asleep and forget to do it)...we are still a long way away from him being able to mix music on it. I think I’m going to let him play with Photoshop next - I’m sure he’ll find manipulating photos of me lots of fun…a new way to “いたずら” me…

Tomorrow night one of the DEvas is coming over to learn about her new computer. She is panicking about even plugging in the power cord. It’s easy to laugh and scorn this - but I’ve decided to be a good techie-girl and help her out. Part of the problem is that the manual is in Japanese. I suspect I won’t even look at that. I can’t believe she’s being so patient about playing with it - when my new computer arrived it was out of the box and starting up before the delivery guy had even made it down to the first floor!

• At least Yoshi uses a whole hand. He could be typing with just one finger. Soon enough, he’ll start using that other hand and before you know it, he’ll be as comfortable onteh computer as he is in front of the game console.
