Hanashi Station is a podcasting (wikipedia: podcasting) project with programs in some way relating to Japan.
Otsukare to Kristen for getting the first program together!
The Boy and I did the opening theme (at the last minute - *sigh*) - but I was pleased with the results. I wanted a rockier-sounding station tune and he managed to pull something out of somewhere. He doesn’t think it’s as cool as it could be - but it was an interesting experiment for him to compose with restrictions upon him.
It was recorded and mixed in two sessions - each track was recorded about 5 times, with several missies in between. The first draft was ditched completely, and re-recorded from scratch.
I used my G4 Powerbook to record with direct lines in through a Mobile Pre Audio unit, and recorded and mixed in GarageBand. I am still not completely satisfied with the GarageBand to iTunes mix down version; don’t feel like I have enough control over it.
The ending theme is a blend of train platform announcement recordings, train noises and a dash of MJ Radio VoiceTM.
The podcast I’ll be doing is called Brain Dump. Wasn’t really too sure about the direction it would be heading in - but it will be featuring some indie JRock so obscure that it’s never been broadcast before…and maybe some inane banter.
I already have a stack of CDs…goodness knows how I am going to manage to keep it down to 15 minutes….I used to find it a major challenge to keep my radio program to just one hour and I produced that every week…

‘Hanashi Station’ is so cool! I like train sound very much…reminds me of Tokyo area. PodCasting is incredible!!!
