Went round to the J-Mums for dinner - missed last week due to a BBQ and they get frantic if they don’t feed me once a week. J-mum and J-auntie were a bit of a tizz cause the Boy had told them that I was on a strict diet and they weren’t to try and feed me like they usually try to. This goes against their mothering grain and they tried to convince me that I didn’t need to go on a diet. I smiled and held firm and was able to eat like a normal person for once. Still Mum sent us away with donuts she’d bought that day - just in case we starved to death before next week’s family Sunday dinner. J-mum has marked on her calendar when I’m supposed to finish the strict phase of the diet.
*sigh*
I have put the donuts in the freezer until the Boy feels like eating them.
However finally winning the Great Weekly Force-feeding Battle wasn’t what surprised me tonight. I was chatting to Younger Brother for a while and I realized suddenly what CD he had been listening to when I tromped into his room. It was the marshmallow spike CD! I paid him out about it but he just laughed at me and told me which songs he liked best (android #1, stolen umbrella #2). He also showed me the wad of tickets he’s got off the Boy for him and his friends to go to our Yokohama gig. He warned me that I’d better play bass as brilliantly as possible so as not to embarrass him in front of his mates. Like I don’t feel pressured enough…
I mentioned this little scene to the Boy after we’d dropped J-auntie off. He confessed though something that Younger Brother hadn’t said to me - his friends who are coming actually have memorized the names of the songs from the CD. They can even sing along to some of them.
My jaw dropped.
We’ve had such encouraging feedback lately from people. We still have a shitload of hard work to do. But maybe, just maybe, we can do this band thing…

I was having thoughts about not coming to the Yokohama gig…it’s so far away, na….but if all the cute boys are going to be there….well, we can sing along to Stolen Umbrella together.
I was away at a “Summer Seminar” for my Karate doujo this weekend (read 5am beach training under very strict conditions and smoking was forbidden!! a story for another time)
I found myself at one point singing a little tune.. people asked me what it was and I had to think about it but it was “Gimme” and I knew the words!!!
face it babe, we like your stuff!
Now girls I know you’re just buttering me up to have a chance at my left-over groupies…
