So one major drawback of the yucky flu I’ve had this week is that my ears are still blocked and in one ear (left) it’s at about 70% not hearing.
It’s driving me crazy.
It’s ringing as well.
My sense of awareness is dulled. I feel unbalanced. Muted. Yet loud noises hurt.
It’s like I’ve been standing next to the speakers of at least 7 loud gigs.
In bed this morning I heard an ambulance siren. My left ear echoed it - it is not able to respond in real time to sound.
I ran out of a supermarket today because the girl giving away snacks had one of the screechiest voices ever and I couldn’t take it.
Actually I’ve always been very sensitive to voices. I once had a mad crush on a radio person simply because of his voice. The tones and enuciation of him speaking would drive me into a frenzy. I met him in person and even though he was a bit of a scrawny emo-type I still swooned every time he talked.
When I saw Shirley Bassey in concert I burst into tears at the first note she sang.
I’ve dumped boys because of their voice.
The Boy has a nice voice. Except he mumbles a bit which annoys me. It thrills me when he speaks English because his tones take on new character.
I’m not sure how I developed this - dare I call it - fetish, however I come from a family of good voices. We never really spoke in the awful Australian paint-peeling drawl that many do.
Ugh just thinking of it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
I am more drawn to deep, full male voices than to high.
I judge people by their voice. I don’t mean to - it’s just an innate reaction.
I think my voice is OK - but then I usually only hear it in my head. I know I have a distinctive laugh which I can’t seem to control the tone of.
People often can’t place my accent which I find somewhat unusual. I think it’s obviously Australian - but then many have accused me of being American (~^). I am often taken for English as well but that may only be because I don’t speak like I’m trying to keep flies from crawling into my mouth. I recall once meeting some fellow Australian women and them inviting me to a luncheon - saying that even though I wasn’t Australian they felt I had an “Australian heart” - I said not only do I have that, but also an Australian passport thankyou very much sweeties….
Have you ever experienced reading a good book and hearing the characters’ voices inside your head - then been terribly disappointed when they make it into a film and the actors voices don’t match your image?
Anyway the upshot of this rant is my hearing better bloody fix itself soon.
I have to remix all the marshmallow spike songs now we have new bass lines.
And also I’m tired of walking slightly bent over to the left…
