Having a “tying up lose ends” and “general organizing” day today. It feels good to get those annoying little hanger-on thingies done.
I hate clutter. There’s nothing more distressing to me than to work on someone else’s computer and just see files scattered haphazardly all over the desktop. Cluttered desks really stress me out too - the girl I used to work with would regularly have avalanches of paper and gashapon toys off her desk (and usually onto mine) - as much as I like her as a person, her level of desk gomi used to drive me completely nuts!
Not that I’m perfect mind you. I’ve been trying to fight my inherited need to hoard (you wouldn’t have believed my Grandfather’s tool shed - no matter how rusty things got he never threw anything out) - I’m I’m kinda getting on top of it. Luckily the Boy is a non-hoarder and has been trying to discipline me in some regards (I’ve always been a wardrobe-stuffer - out of sight, out of mind but unfortunately not dealt with until it becomes a castastrophe).
It reminds me of that part in “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” when Isidore goes on about his “kipple” observations…somehow stuff that you one treasured can turn into junk along the way…have you ever really examined the ground after a building has been demolished? All of the ground has bits of stuff in it that would take ages to sift out of it…and so no-one ever bothers…
