There was a 6 in Shizuoka. Tsunami expected. 4 in Tokyo.
Magnitude 6.6. Went for a minute. There is also heavy rain from the typhoon coming in.
5 around other areas of Shizuoka. 4 and 3 around the rest of the Kanto area.
There is a tsunami expected to hit the coast of Shizuoka, to a height of half a metre. Do not go to the beach in this area (they are saying on TV).
Ocean has gone out a further 60 cms than normal. So far no reports of damage have come in. There is currently heavy rain from the typhoon as well.
So far some people have been injured - one 5 year old boy taken to hospital after a tv fell onto his leg. A 70 year old woman bumped her leg on some stuff. I think NHK is a tad desperate for injury reports.
Damage so far has been several tiled roofs have lost tiles, one house may fall into a river. There may be a couple of houses on fire.
Update 6:26am: Aftershocks of 1 and 2 have been frequent, just had a 3.
Looks like we’ve been really lucky this time - not so much damage or injury, and the tsunami much smaller than predicted. Not sure about typhoon #9 though.
