First of all let me assure you that the Boy came out of this with a few bruises on his knee and a bit stiff and sore only - thank bloody goodness.
Riding home last night he was involved in a classic Tokyo multiple fender bender in which one car stopped suddenly and the others behind failed to do so quickly enough… Including him.
Luckily there were no cars behind him - or in the lane he skidded into.
Also it’s lucky that the bike still runs ok - mainly seems to be just damage to the body - sections which we hope can be replaced without too much hassle (or expense).
Bikes always come off the worse in accidents - I’m just really, really glad he’s ok.

OMG - thank goodness the boy is OK.. bikes can be fixed easier than people!!
Definitely happy to hear the boy is ok. I’ve been riding a bit more now that the weather has cooled off and I am so paranoid.
I use a full-length Aerostich Roadcrafter, which is all ballistic cordura and has a spine protector, crash padding in the knees, shoulders and elbows, and highly reflective panels on the back and the back of the legs.

It is a costly investment, but it is washable and I’m using the same suit that I had in university. I’ve done a cross-USA solo ride with it, and crashed in it (with no damage to myself) and I can’t say enough good things about it.
I just want to add that most of the riders in Tokyo are not wearing enough protection by my standards. I love motorcycling, but I realize how dangerous it is on the street.
The safest motorcycling is, ironically, on the racetrack, where there are no cars to hit you, no kerbs to flip over, and an ambulance waiting for you should you need it. Plus it more fun there than anywhere else!
Very true Gen - I wince when I see people riding around in those stupid little half helmets…
Yoshi, get well soon, and im sooo glad youve got a good helmet!
yikes! feel better soon, yoshi, so glad you’re reasonably okay!
Glad The Boy made it through the drop relatively OK! Glad you weren’t riding behind too!
