  • Thanks MJ. I haven’t been to a tanabata fest. for a while…great pics that make me me feel natsukashii (what word in English even comes close to that?). Summer festivals in Japan are the best.

    • The gaudier the better! Those decorations are beautiful, like a Mexican fiesta. I haven’t seen anything like that here.

      • Mie - there is no good English word for “natsukashii” - “nostalgic” sounds so clumsy doesn’t it?

        Nils - well Kyoto doesn’t do tacky as well as Hiratsuka (~^)
