Not so long ago I ranted about how maintenance of things takes over the time for creativity.

Well today I went through all 487 posts and disabled pings and deleted trackback spam. At the same time I decided to get my shit together and actually put posts into categories. Gee that only makes me about 2 years behind in the blog-organizational stakes.

Fished out and refilled. Alcohol is an antiseptic, right?

Anyway so one of the six trillion things this tedious activity got me thinking about was how much of a trial it is to be online sometimes. I’ve ranted about spam and how much it irks me several times before - not just on the puter but on the keitai as well.

Today’s irk-someness was a result of a new bloggy type spam irritation of attacking trackbacking. And it’s not just MT - on the marshmallow spike live blog I’ve had to do some considerable trimming and blacklisting as well.

This makes the internet not fun. It makes owning a mobile phone a trial. Even my letter-box resembles a rubbish bin more than a place to receive actual mail.

I disable things. I delete. I block. I yell at people on the phone, and sneer at the ones who dare to ring my doorbell. I recycle junk mail and glare if I catch any of them putting it into my letterbox.

My dears, the Revolution is coming. It’s time for us to take back our time from these invaders. Not sure just how yet.

Just don’t expect me to mass-email you about it.
