Had to do some emergency resuscitation on my pot plants today.
I am seriously crap at gardening. Which is weird because as far as pets go - no problem. Dogs, cats, birds, turtles…all living to ripe old ages and healthy.
Plants - the leaves start to brown as soon as I touch ‘em.
I challenged myself recently by acquiring 3 plants - a marigold, a daisy and a begonia. The begonia seems to be doing the best surprisingly. Just as well - it was the most expensive.
I think the issue is that I just don’t understand plants. They can’t tell me what they need and when. Even my turtles know to splash at me to remind me to feed them. The plants - they just sit there and wilter in matryed silence.
I tried talking to them. Somehow though conversations like “Grow you bastards otherwise I’ll replace you with plastic”, probably aren’t that encouraging.
There is something to be said for native Australian plants. They know how to take care of themselves. Which leads me to believe this plant-killer thing is hereditary - Mum only ever had native plants in her garden.
I’ve put my experimental lot on the edge of the balcony. Rainy season is pretty much here so at least somehow they’ll get a regular watering.
OOoooo must go - Spike is doing his famous “Standing on Two Legs” pose…

I think you probably mean potted plants, but I called the police just to be sure.
Oh is that who was ringing the doorbell? I thought it might have been the NHK man…
