As you’ve probably heard by now the large quake off the Kuril islands has resulted in two small tsunami hitting Hokkaido this evening - the first 20 cms the second 40 cms.
We are still in warning mode.
Thanks to everyone who mailed or called me! I had not abandoned my computer for safety up on top of Shonandai - I was actually in Shibuya and then on my way back.
from tenki.jp - the areas lined in yellow are warned to expect a tsunami of 50cms or less
Update 12:15am: Tsunami warning is still active.
Update 1am: Fun fact - the tsunami was 10cms on the Chiba coast. Considering the distance involved you can understand the degree of warning issued.

Wow! You got me all worried for a minute then! Glad to hear you are safe.
Hi there, hope there wasn’t any damage done by the tsunami.
Thanks for the surprise comment on my blog. It’s been a while. I was trying to open your .net site, but it seems the silly regulatory authorities are blocking access to that server.
Had to go through my US server to be sent here to the .jp site (which isn’t blocked btw).
Best regards, Sajjad
